Rug Washing
Rug washing may seem like a simple, straightforward task, but there are many things that could go wrong if you don’t know what you’re doing. Rugs are often investment pieces, especially Oriental rugs, tapestries, and rugs made of delicate or expensive fibers like silk. Cleaning a rug properly requires training and experience, which is why it’s often best left to the professionals like Bagdad Oriental Rugs.
The Best Rug Washing Process In Town
At our Houston cleaning facility, we combine our innovative rug washing machinery, which uses chemical- and enzyme-free soaps, with the master hand-detailing techniques of our highly skilled rug cleaning technicians. We use a combination of rug washing methods to restore your rug’s color, softness, and overall beauty.
We start the cleaning process by removing loose sediment and dirt. Professional-grade vacuums remove larger particles and materials before we use our Automatic Rug Dusting System to remove dust, which is a major cause of scratches in your rug’s fibers. Did you know: Your rug can build up as much as one pound of dust per square foot?
After having the dirt and dust removed, your rug is soaked in shallow water to loosen the knotting in the backing of the rug and expose any dirt hiding in the fibers of your rug. It is crucial to get rid of as much dirt as possible before your rug is submerged in water for the washing process.
Chemical- and enzyme-free soaps ensure that the color and integrity of your rug isn’t compromised during the washing. A soft bristle brushing machine is used to shampoo your rug, lifting dirt and grime, refreshing the fibers of your rug.
One-of-a-Kind Rug Washing Machinery
After this deep cleansing, your rug is ready for our flatbed washing system. This piece of machinery sets us apart from our competitors because no one has anything like it and it makes a significant difference in the rug washing process. The flatbed washing system uses water pressure to push any remaining particles out of every square inch of your rug. There simply is no deeper clean for your rug.
Once your rug is cleaned, it is run through to rollers, which apply around 250 lbs of pressure to squeeze out any excess water. This ensures that the color of your rug stays true and improves the texture of your rug while minimizing the drying time. Each rug is then hung to air dry in our climate-controlled heated drying chamber. It is important to prevent the development of impurities or contaminants as your rug dries. This drying process also helps keep your rug lying flat- we never roll your rug to dry!
The last step in our thorough cleaning process is to hand-detail the fringe of your rug. This last step makes a big difference in the appearance of your newly cleaned and detailed rug.
